The Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing - Elementary Teaching (CEAS - Elementary) is an intensive blended option designed for non-matriculated candidates seeking Elementary-level teacher certification. For students interested in matriculating at the University (including eligibility for financial aid) as well as the potential to earn a Master's-level degree, the initial CEAS certification is the foundation of the M.A.E. in Elementary Teaching degree program.
The CEAS non-matriculated curriculum is approximately a year in length and combines online course learning, field experience and a culminating Clinical Practice experience. Candidates receive individual advisement throughout their studies and upon completion will be qualified for nomination to the NJ Department of Education as an elementary teacher.
Admissions Requirements
To be considered for admission, applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- Online application and application fee
- Official transcript(s) from all institutions attended, reflective of at least 60 Liberal Arts credits
- Official score report indicating passing score on the Praxis II exam
- Resume/Curriculum vitae
- Interview (upon request)
Application Deadline
The CEAS - Elementary reviews applications on a rolling basis and typically accepts applicants for students to begin their studies in the Summer semester (typically beginning in mid-May).
