This program is an available option for graduates of the University's M.A. in Counseling or M.A. in School Counseling program
This program is designed for individuals who have completed either Seton Hall’s M.A. in Counseling or M.A. in School Counseling program and wish to pursue a licensure as a professional counselor. Depending upon the student’s area of study, the Ed.S. program is comprised of additional advanced-level practice and knowledge courses, specifically 12 credits for M.A. in Counseling students and 15 credits for M.A. in School Counseling students.
The coursework aligns with requirements leading to licensure in New Jersey. Students interested in licensure in other states must consult with their academic advisor and the College's Office of Fieldwork and Certification for more details, which may include supplemental coursework and/or internship requirements.
Note: The Ed.S. degree requires separate application and is currently available only to students who have completed the M.A. in Counseling or M.A. in School Counseling requirements from Seton Hall University.

Application Requirements
To be considered for admission, applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- Online application and application fee
- Resume/Curriculum vitae
- Personal statement (up to 550 words, about two pages)
- Official transcript(s) from all institutions attended, including completion of the University's M.A. in Counseling or M.A. in School Counseling program
- Letters of recommendation (3) from academic and/or professional references

Application and Enrollment Dates
The program operates on a rolling admissions schedule where students may begin their studies in either the Fall or Spring semester.

Prerequisites required. CPSY 7385 Independent Research is required for students enrolled in the M.A. School Counseling program who completed clinical hours at both school and mental health sites during Internship Counseling I and II (CPSY 7380/7381).
Requirements for the program are outlined in the "Requirements" tab of this Catalogue. This Planner tab offers a sample semester-by-semester model schedule which accounts for historical course availability. For timely completion of the program, students must routinely meet with their assigned academic advisor to carefully plan their schedule based on available courses.
Important Note: For students interested in pursuing state certification/licensure, 60-credits are typically required. To obtain the requisite credits, students must pair the Ed.S. in Professional Counseling coursework outlined below with the M.A. in Counseling. Students are advised to discuss their professional intentions with their assigned academic advisor to learn more about the process.
