Conflict and Security Analysis (M.S.)

At a time of rising geopolitical tensions, digital threats, and complex conflict dynamics, the proposed Master of Science in Conflict and Security Analysis responds to the urgent demand for professionals who can address evolving global challenges through technological and analytical expertise. Aligned with Seton Hall University’s mission to prepare ethical leaders for a global society, this interdisciplinary, STEM-designated program equips students with the skills to analyze security risks and manage conflict using data-informed approaches and applied research.

Housed within the School of Diplomacy and International Relations—recognized for its strengths in United Nations engagement, multilateral diplomacy, and peace and security studies—the program builds on the School’s global affairs expertise while introducing the technical competencies essential to today’s policy and operational environments. It prepares graduates to serve in government, international organizations, and NGOs with the analytical capabilities and ethical grounding needed to lead.

Distinctively structured as an intensive one-year program accessible to students without prior STEM backgrounds, it integrates technical proficiency with a strong foundation in diplomacy, ethics, and global engagement. This 30-credit program combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills across two tracks: Security Analysis (focusing on homeland security, intelligence, cybersecurity, terrorism, nuclear security, and energy security) and Peace and Conflict Studies (focusing on the use of analytical tools and technology to understand conflict dynamics and to support effective peacemaking, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction).
