Admission to this second degree Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program is limited to students holding a baccalaureate or higher degree. The program is offered at the Freehold site for a Fall or Spring semester start and at the Nutley campus (IHSC) for a Spring start. All science prerequisites must be completed with a grade of "C+", or higher, non-nursing prerequisites with a grade of "C" or higher for acceptance. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
Students must complete courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Organic-Biochemistry, and Microbiology and Nutrition (taken within 5 years of admission with a grade of C+ or higher); Statistics, Developmental Psychology, and Ethics (with a grade of C or higher) prior to starting the program. The ABSN program requires 14 months to complete in a modified plan of study. Students are expected to follow the ABSN course sequence and must successfully complete all courses in a semester with at least a C+ prior to taking courses in the next semester. Students in the ABSN program are subject to the progression risk and college dismissal standards outlined in the most recent version of the College of Nursing’s Undergraduate Student Handbook in the Undergraduate Nursing Team's page.
