The Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts offers a major in Art History leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree. Responding to the visual world in which we live, the Art History major provides opportunities for students to acquire visual literacy and critical thinking skills that are essential for successful careers in the arts, museums, education, advertising, design, marketing, public relations, and law. The major offers a robust curriculum that trains students in the analysis and appreciation of art and visual culture through courses focusing on different historical periods, geographic areas, or thematic approaches while also covering a plethora of movements, styles, and media.
The faculty is comprised of scholars who provide an education that is both theoretical and pragmatic in approach. Thus, students are well prepared for careers in their professional fields relevant to art history or to pursue graduate studies.
