Effective Fall 2021, admission to the Music major is suspended. Interested students are invited to pursue one of the College’s Music-related minors and/or concentrations (e.g. Sound Production & Engineering).
Students in the music major programs are mentored to excel in their chosen fields through teaching that encourages thoughtful engagement and critical thinking. The music curriculum serves a diverse constituency while maintaining the highest standards in each discipline and is informed by the interdisciplinary collaboration afforded in a liberal arts setting. The Major in Music offers students the opportunity to specialize in one of several applied areas (Music Performance, Musical Theatre, Sound Production and Engineering, and Music Education for students with a declared major in the College of Education and Human Services on their path toward teaching certification. Entrance to either program (with the exception of the Sound Production and Engineering area) requires an audition. All students in the Visual and Sound Media program are required to complete 45 credits, inclusive of one area of concentration in:
