FILI - Filipino (FILI)

FILI 1012  Introductory Filipino II  (3 Credits)  
Mastery of the basic features of Filipino and development of the four skills (comprehension, speaking, reading and writing) through classroom practice and drills, reinforced with audiovisual materials and exercises. Special emphasis is placed on mastering the sound system of Filipino.
FILI 1101  Filipino for Healthcare I  (3 Credits)  
Introduces the four basic skills of language acquisition – listening, speaking, reading and writing – with emphasis on speaking and comprehending spoken Filipino. The course also introduces the Filipino language and the culture of the Filipino-speaking world. It is part of the two-semester course, Introductory Filipino for Healthcare Providers. Students will be learning to speak Filipino in the context of their current or future work as healthcare professionals. This course is designed for students with little or no background in Filipino. It is a skills-development course that will require students to learn, practice, and apply knowledge and abilities in a consistent and dedicated manner.
